The richness of art comes from its power to stir peoples' emotions and influence their vision of the world. In this way, art helps construct the identity of each social group. By sponsoring studies and then later elaborating books on the topic, Odebrecht contributes so that increasingly more people may enjoy this experience.

Over recent years, the Organization has supported projects on the modernism of Tarsila do Amaral, the lenses of Cravo Neto, the Bahia of Caymmi, the classics of Villa-Lobos, the cordel of Elomar, the talent of Clarival do Prado Valladares and the paintings of Lula Cardoso Ayres, Alberto Valença and Portinari, among other important artists.

This archive presents works on the most diverse art forms, such as music, painting, sculpture, poetry, tapestry and pottery.

Written in Stone” – Color, Form and Movement in the Rock Art of Bahia

Escrito na Pedra: Cor, Forma e Movimento nos Grafismos Rupestres na Bahia offers the reader an overview of the until then unknown set of archeological sites distributed throughout the State of Bahia. The book was written by anthropologist Carlos Alberto Etchevarne. The researcher visited and analyzed 229 locales with paintings and engravings at a total of 100 sites distributed throughout 54 municipalities of the state.

The work is the result of the research project Homem e Natureza - Imagens da arte rupestre na Bahia ("Man and Nature – Images of Rock Art in Bahia”), which won the Clarival do Prado Valladares Award in 2006. In addition to the publication of the book, the Organization's sponsorship also allowed for the creation of a database for use by the researchers at the Federal University of Bahia Museum of Archeology and Ethnology.
