Considered a crucial element for the structuring and administration of life in society, politics is also an area included within the dimensions of sustainability at Odebrecht. Within this context, the Organization’s companies are responsible for matching the interests of citizens with those of governments and representatives of civil society.

That is why Odebrecht considers its Leaders to be important allies. They help governments and entities form participative public policies.

In 2010, business leaders represented Odebrecht in groups such as the Brazilian delegation sent to the United Nations Climate Change Conference, or COP-16, held in Mexico. They also supported the holding of the Latin American Carbon Forum in the Dominican Republic

Partnerships

In addition to the political coordination efforts of its Leaders, Odebrecht also supports government and private entities in projects and initiatives that help improve the population's quality of life.

Odebrecht

• The Organization, Angolan government and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) established a partnership to hold polio vaccination campaigns in that country;
• In Peru, it participates in the Local Governance Strengthening Program at the North IIRSA and South IIRSA projects. This initiative prioritizes the training of leaders and strengthening of inter-governmental coordination strategies designed to promote productive development and the conservation of natural resources;
• The Brazilian Ministry of Social Development, the Industrial Social Service (SESI) and the National Industrial Learning Service (SENAI) are all the Organization’s partners in the Acreditar (“Believe”) Program, focused on professional qualification.

ETH Bioenergia

• As a result of an initiative undertaken by the company, the Goiás State Federation of Industries (FIEG), Goiás State Alcohol Manufacturing Industry Trade Union (SIFAEG) and Mineiros City Government joined efforts to install the first National Industrial Learning Service (SENAI) unit at the Araguaia Center;
• The company also signed the Business Conduct Commitment to Eradicate Child Labor, together with the ABRINQ Foundation, Ethos Institute, International Labor Organization (ILO) and UNICEF, among other entities;
• ETH Bioenergia is among a select group of Brazilian companies to participate in the New Earth Leaders group, focused on improving the sustainability of business organizations.

Odebrecht Infraestrutura

• The company and the Brazilian Navy established a partnership for the Brazilian Navy-Odebrecht Olympic Project. Its proposal is to discover and develop talents for the 2016 Olympic Games.

Braskem

• Braskem takes part in the In the Right Hands Program, an initiative of the entity Childhood Brasil designed to combat the sexual exploration of children on the country’s roads and highways.
