NORBE IX Celebrates One Year without Timeloss Accidents

The Odebrecht Oil and Gas (OOG) NORBE IX drill rig celebrated the record of one year without time-loss accidents. From the signature of the document to the delivery of the unit in May 2011, there were a total of 485,264 man-hours worked without any incidents.

The rig has approximately 140 crew members onboard, including Members of OOG and Petrobras service providers, who work focused on safety, environment and high productivity. According to Patrick Landry, NORBE IX Rig Manager, before starting the daily service, meetings are held to discuss the activities completed, possible operating risks and what the teams should do to avoid exposing themselves to risk.

According to Máximo Leite, Training and Safety Coordinator of the unit, the NORBE IX also uses Observation Cards, which are filled out for future reports of safe or unsafe conditions and behaviors. “The cards are controlled by a spreadsheet that presents the indicators requiring treatment,” said Leite.

“The feedback is presented during the meetings and the conclusion and closure meetings are held monthly by the unit leaders,” he explained.

The NORBE IX is supported by the SiGOP Management System and uses the premises of compliance with legal requirements, client guidelines, team work and the constant qualification of Members and partners. “This achievement was possible thanks to the effort, dedication and good relationship with the client, through the constructive spirit of a mature, competent team committed to the operation,” concluded Patrick Landry.
