On June 29, the Moatize Coal Project – an alliance contract between Vale, Odebrecht International and Camargo Corrêa – completed the installation of the reinforced earth wall, part of the primary crusher construction. The construction project lasted 40 days and involved 250 Members and different types of equipment, with a trade-off of day and night shifts to meet the tight deadline.
Before beginning the construction of the wall, the area passed through the phases of preliminary digging, soil removal and the filling of 50,000 m3 of earth.
The reinforced earth wall is 22 m high, 409.6 m long and has three levels. A concrete slab will be installed at its top so that the loaded trucks can dump the coal into the primary crusher. After passing through this grinder, the material is transported along a conveyor belt to be processed in the CPP (Coal Preparation Plant).
A total of 1,413 concrete plate units and 200,000 m3 of earth were used to stabilize the wall.
