Guarantee the energy necessary to ensure that the country's gears do not stop turning. This is the challenge of Odebrecht Energia, a company with expertise in hydroelectric, thermoelectric and nuclear power plant projects.
Its main project is the construction of the Santo Antônio Hydroelectric Power Plant on the Madeira River in the state of Rondônia, with capacity of 3,150 MW. As partner of Santo Antônio Energia S.A., it will participate in the operation and marketing of the energy produced by the plant. Also included in its portfolio are the construction of the Almirante Álvaro Alberto Nuclear Plant Units I and II, better known as Angra I and Angra II (Rio de Janeiro). In 2009, the project once again challenged the Odebrecht Energia team when it required the replacement of the Steam Generator at one of the plants. This was the first replacement of this type performed in the entire Southern Hemisphere.
The company also demonstrated a pioneering approach when performing the inventory of greenhouse gas emissions generated by the construction work at the Santo Antônio Power Plant. The information obtained allowed the Organization to develop strategies to reduce the impacts.
Odebrecht was ranked the largest international hydroelectric power plant construction company eight different times by the magazine ENR – Engineering News-Record. In 2010, Odebrecht Energia was contracted to build the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Power Plant (PA) -11,233 MW - as part of a consortium, as well as the Teles Pires Hydroelectric Power Plant (MT) - 1,819 MW.
However, the company’s contribution to other Organization businesses does not stop there. The Acreditar Program was created during the Santo Antônio Power Plant project. The initiative is responsible for ensuring that the benefits generated by the projects stay local.
Its commitment to energy generation is reflected in the figures.
- We are currently helping construct 70 hydroelectric power plants that together generate 52,757.3 MW;
- 17 thermoelectric power plants, with a production of 3,500.60 MW, and two nuclear plants, which produce 1,938.0 MW, in addition to dam projects;
- The Company also installed 6,297 km of transmission lines.
